Sheriff's Office Investigations

Hot Tip       Marie Blee

The Moffat County Investigative Division consists of three Investigators. The Investigative Division works on crimes that are reported to the Sheriff's Office but normally focuses their attention on the major crimes and felony crimes. Cases that involve people from other counties and states are investigated by this division, with information being shared with the appropriate officers from other involved agencies.

The Investigative Division works closely with the GRAMNET Drug Task Force. An officer from the Moffat County Sheriff's Office is assigned to GRAMNET. Information received by the Investigative Division relating to illegal narcotics is given to GRAMNET.

The Investigative Division developed the Hot Tip page which allows citizens to report crimes and anonymously provide information to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies, over the past years, have been able to solve many crimes through the use of this type of tip program.

Currently, the Marie Blee case is the priority case for the Investigative Division. This case involves a missing fifteen year old girl, who disappeared in November 1979. There have been over fifty interviews by Investigators since June 1999 and there are over one hundred interviews left to do, with more names expected to surface of people who need to be interviewed about this case.
